The past few months I've spent...
reflecting, learning, praying, mourning, crying, hugging, over-eating, binge-watching, writing & protesting.
It has been difficult, to say the least, to balance, make sense and figure out what I can personally do right now.
I believe the power of sharing and listening to stories builds and strengthens our community
and I also believe that the health of our community reflects how well we treat our neighbors.
I have been processing and mourning the murders of Ahmaud Arbery, Brionna Taylor, George Floyd,
and remembering & learning about so many others who were murdered before them and sadly since their deaths.
Their murders are brutal reminders of how much work we must do!
To my Black and Brown community;
I stand as an ally and in solidarity with you.
I am committed to learn, listen, read and pay attention. I am committed to do the work!
To the members of our community who hold racial privilege;
please educate yourself by listening to black storytellers, reading books and articles written by black authors
and thinking about how you can use your voice to lift up the people of color around you.
We must do better!
